Electrical System Design Engineer
Talgarth | £43,000 – £45,000
Are you ready to design the future of bespoke electrical systems? Join our dynamic design and production team in Talgarth as an Electrical System Design Engineer, where you'll play a pivotal role in crafting tailored solutions for our cutting-edge environmental test chambers.
From concept to commissioning, you’ll collaborate with project managers, engineers, sales, and workshop teams to deliver high-quality, compliant, and cost-effective electrical designs.
Key Responsibilities
* Create detailed schematics, layouts, and wiring diagrams using CAD software
* Specify and select components including PLCs, controllers, switchgear, lighting, safety systems, and sensors
* Prepare comprehensive parts lists and coordinate with purchasing for timely procurement
* Ensure designs meet industry standards, safety codes, and regulations
* Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate electrical systems into full project builds
* Support manufacturing and commissioning, including troubleshooting
* Assist with project estimations, quotations, and technical documentation
* Contribute to design reviews and validation testing
* Stay updated on industry developments, standards, and compliance
* Provide technical support to sales and service teams
* Produce electrical system risk assessments
* Maintain accurate records and manage design data
Key Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in electrical system design within machine manufacturing
* Background in control panel and safety system design in industrial or mechanical environments
* Experience in component specification and procurement
* Proficiency in CAD design and knowledge of electrical standards
* PLC programming experience is a strong advantage
* Experience with environmental test chambers is beneficial but not essential
