Electrical Technician
The key duties of the post are as follows:
• To participate in the construction, conditioning, testing, installation and commissioning of vacuum systems.
• To work within a team to install, test and commission the vacuum system. This will include working on all electrical aspects of the vacuum instrumentation including racks and field equipment such as controllers, valves, gauges and pumps.
• To undertake the testing, fault finding and repair of above systems including component repair.
• General technician work including electrical cabling, specialist connector assembly, build of simple electronic devices and some mechanical assembly. This will include soldering and crimping. All work to be completed to a high standard.
• Electrical vacuum equipment inspection, testing, handling and inventory checking.
• Ensure that all work is carried out safely and using the correct processes. Carrying out regular safety inspections. Use of appropriate PPE equipment as required.
• To utilise effectively the quality control and quality procedures of the project.
• To work within a clean room environment (ISO 7 standard Class 10000).
• To undertake other related duties to meet the needs of the Vacuum Group. Training for specific duties and processes will be provided.
Qualifications and Experience
You will have served a recognised Apprenticeship in an Engineering discipline or have equivalent experience. You will have knowledge and experience of cable assembly, soldering, crimping, panel wiring and rack building.

• Good communication skills: verbal/written.
• LV Electrical systems experience.
• Ability to work safely in tight confines
• Flexible approach to the working conditions and environment.
Desirable:
• Familiarity with vacuum systems would be an advantage.
• Experience working in a high technology field.
• HV Electrical systems experience.
• Electrical certification to 18th Edition Wiring Regs
• Knowledge of PCB assembly.
• Experience working in ISO clean room environments.
Other Requirements:
Available to work overtime during the build and commissioning.
The applicant will be expected to assist with the following duties under the direct supervision of a member of the Vacuum Group.
• Electrical vacuum equipment inspection, handling and inventory checking.
• Inspection and checking of pre-assembly kits of parts.
• Electrical and mechanical assembly of the vacuum components within a clean working environment.
• Electrical testing of assembled vacuum equipment.
• Vacuum bakeout (conditioning) of vacuum components to UHV conditions.
• Assist with electrical installation of the vacuum components.
• Assisting with commissioning and testing of installed vacuum systems.
• Work in accordance with all Vacuum Group QA documentation and procedures
