Your future role
Take on a new challenge and apply your Mechanical / Electrical systems knowledge as a Maintenance Technician (Warranty) in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll report to Train manager and work alongside our active and highly resourceful colleagues.
You’ll be able to demonstrate your unique attributes and skills. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business, carry out testing and commissioning activities on dart+ trains in accordance with pre-written test and commissioning procedures and much more.
You’ll specifically take care of all coupling activities, static and dynamic testing and warranty issues and modifications.
We’ll look to you for:
Develop and increase knowledge of all Dart+ train functions and sub-systems.
Troubleshooting of all warranty defects and provide technical assistance on TSSSA contract.
Upload software and downloads to carry out critical asset repairs and upgrades.
Apply special processes as crimping and torque tightening.
Functionally test train borne systems with minimal supervision using a variety of techniques and methods, including the use of computer-based diagnostics systems.
Provide technical support to the depot teams in the provision of fault-finding expertise and assistance with train repair and train maintenance.
Undertake test runs to assist in fault finding and resolution of faults, in particular the close-out of repeat failures.
Assistance in component change outs, and failure reporting for ESG and reliability growth teams
Liaise with the ESG and specialist engineers as necessary, gathering technical information needed to enable technical problems with trains, procedures, materials or component problems to be resolved.
Carry out all duties in accordance with the Traincare Centre quality and safety procedures.
Driving Company vehicles for Depot operational or Technical related work such as breakdowns or occasional travel to do other work at other sites, this would only be requested of current eligible and authorised Technicians as agreed with relevant site TCM & HRM.
Carrying out overhead isolations as required.
Topping up of sanding systems of rail vehicles
General depot duties e.g.: Line of Routes
Static / functional and performance tests
Review and rectify test specifications and documentation for functional tests.
Continuously improve processes and procedures.
Coach and develop other Technicians as required.
To record all Service Orders all activities and time taken to complete tasks.
Attend regular team briefings and communicate any relevant matters.
Report accidents and incidents through the appropriate channels

Qualified in a Technical Discipline – Qualified Electrician FETAC Level 6 National Craft Certificate (NCC) is required for this role
Experience of electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanics.
Experience of working within a process / production environment.
Understanding work instructions and following procedures.
Ability to read detailed electrical drawings and cable schedules.
Applying electrical modifications
To inform the files of progress of modifications
Ability to fault find/diagnose issues on installations while testing.
Be adaptable and flexible.
Working knowledge of quality and health and safety standards and systems preferable
Crimping and Torque Tightening.
Efficient in Mechanical and electrical coupling.
Uploading of software.
IT literate with some knowledge of Microsoft software packages.
