Electrical Test Engineer
Location: Kendal, Cumbria
Job Type: Full-time
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday–Friday, with occasional overtime and weekend work)
About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced and qualified Electrical Test Engineer to join a well-established engineering company based in Kendal. The business delivers a range of electrical services across industrial, commercial, and utilities projects, and is known for its commitment to quality, safety, and technical expertise.
This role is ideal for someone with strong testing and inspection experience who holds a valid City & Guilds 2391 qualification and is confident working across a variety of sites and environments.
Key Responsibilities
*
Carry out electrical testing, inspections, and remedial works in compliance with the latest IET Wiring Regulations (BS7671).
*
Complete all required test documentation, reports, and certificates accurately.
*
Conduct safety checks, pre-start assessments, and risk assessments in line with company procedures.
*
Perform electrical isolations safely and effectively.
*
Work independently or as part of a team on customer sites.
*
Report to Qualifying Supervisors and Electrical Site Supervisors.
*
Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and professionalism at all times.
Essential Requirements
*
City & Guilds 2391 Test & Inspection Qualification
*
City & Guilds Level 3 Electrical Technical Certificate.
*
NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations.
*
City & Guilds 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671).
*
Valid JIB/ECS card.
*
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
*
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
*
Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
*
Experience in industrial or utilities environments (water industry experience beneficial but not essential).
