Astute's Nuclear team is exclusively partnered with a specialist lifting and handling equipment business, acting as the lifting principal contractor on Hinkley Point C. We are currently recruiting a Mechanical Fitter to install, align, and maintain overhead travelling cranes and lifting equipment.
You will work in a highly regulated and safety-critical environment, ensuring all crane electrical systems meet performance, safety, and compliance requirements. The ideal candidate will have industrial electrical installation and maintenance experience, ideally with cranes or heavy mechanical plant in nuclear or regulated industries.

Responsibilities and duties:
Reporting to the Black Hat Supervisor, you will:
Install and terminate LV power and control cabling for crane systems.
Connect and commission VFDs, control panels, and pendant stations.
Test circuits for insulation resistance, continuity, and functional performance.
Support troubleshooting and fault-finding on motors, controls, and safety devices.
Maintain and inspect electrical systems in accordance with planned maintenance schedules.
Complete all required commissioning and maintenance documentation accurately.
Professional qualifications:
We are looking for someone with the following:
One of the following:
Level 3 Installation Electrician Apprenticeship Standard (STO152)
An equivalent Electrical Installation Apprenticeship
ECS Gold Card
One of the following Skill Tests:
AM2 or FICA
City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing or Level 3 EAL 4337 Initial Verification
Experience with crane or heavy industrial electrical systems.
Personal skills
The Electrician role would suit someone who has:
Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
Good communication and record-keeping skills.
Ability to obtain BPSS security clearance.
