Job Description

Electrofishing Technician Location: Monmouth (covering South Wales) Start date: 1 June 2026 Assignment Length: Temporary assignment until 2nd October Pay: £15.59 per hour We are currently recruiting for an Electrofishing Field Technician to support a seasonal environmental monitoring project across South Wales. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors and is comfortable with hands on, physical work in a field-based setting. The Role: You will be working in rivers and streams across the South Wales region, carrying out electrofishing surveys to monitor fish populations. This involves safely capturing fish using specialist equipment, recording accurate data, and supporting wider environmental assessments. Key Responsibilities: • Conduct electrofishing surveys in rivers and streams • Capture fish using nets and assist with safe handling • Record data on fish populations, including measurements and species identification • Take water readings and environmental measurements • Transport equipment and travel between sites across South Wales • Maintain accurate records and follow health and safety procedures at all times Requirements: • Full UK driving licence and confidence driving 4x4 vehicles • Enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions • Comfortable carrying out physically demanding work, including lifting and carrying heavy equipment • Strong swimming ability • Good attention to detail when collecting and recording data • Reliable and able to work as part of a team Desirable: • Previous experience in environmental fieldwork or similar outdoor roles • Interest in ecology, conservation, or environmental science Interested… Apply today, Email (url removed) or call (phone number removed)
