Help engineer wearable tech that’s improving dogs’ lives in real time.
What’s in it for me?
If you’re an electronics engineer who loves building clever, real-world products (and wouldn’t mind seeing your work help keep thousands of dogs healthier), this could be the move for you.
We are working with a UK leader in wearable location and activity trackers for dogs, who are looking to expand the team and along with it, their product offering. They’ve got tens of thousands of happy customers already using their devices, app, and cloud services, and their growth shows no sign of slowing.
The business is based in central Cambridge, a short walk from the station. You’ll be joining a close-knit team, and your contributions will be felt across the business from day 1. It’s a smart, fast-moving, and collaborative environment where innovation is encouraged and quality is non-negotiable. Benefits include: flexible approach to onsite working, a dog-friendly office, regular social events, well-stocked kitchen, 25 days holiday, and more.
What will I be doing?
You’ll be developing electronics from the ground up with a team of experienced colleagues, working on next-gen products, production line test kit, and the odd creative prototype. You’ll get to be hands-on with PCB layout (multi-layer routing, RF paths, fine-pitch BGA parts), building and reworking prototypes down to 0201 components, and design using calculation, simulation, and data – all while ensuring you are balancing efficiency, reliability, and cost. You’ll ensure performance of their product range is not only brilliant, but also reliable for their customer base, and have a direct influence on business/product critical decisions.
You don’t have to tick every box (passion and energy is critical in this business), but a good mix of the following xp will contribute to your success with securing the role.
Microcontrollers / SoCs and peripheral protocols like SPI, I²C
Power circuitry (battery management, switch-mode regulators, etc.)
Debugging and problem-solving experience
Design for low power and low costBonus points for xp with C programming, Git or other version control, and RF and antenna design.
Why You’ll Love It Here
Our client isn’t just a pet tech company, they’re a scale-up with a culture that blends ambition with fun, who really care about their market and solving real world challenges for their customer base. Think fortnightly Hack Fridays, lunchtime BBQs, and a garden where dogs are as welcome as their humans. You’ll have the freedom to innovate, the backing of a supportive team, and the satisfaction of seeing your work used by thousands of people (and their four-legged friends) across the country.
