Job Description

A growing electronics business is looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join its engineering team. The company designs and manufactures its own hardware and software products used in various sectors, with full in-house control from design through to production.

You'll be taking ownership of both legacy and new development, and working closely with senior technical leadership. This position offers full-stack, full-lifecycle involvement, hands-on work with hardware, and the chance to shape how future products evolve.

Responsibilities:

  * 

    Develop and maintain embedded firmware in C for microcontrollers

  * 

    Build and update C# WinForms tools used internally for development, testing and production

  * 

    Support a C# web-based API used by one of the company’s systems

  * 

    Work directly with hardware in the lab using oscilloscopes, power supplies and related equipment

  * 

    Assist with production testers and occasional customer-related technical investigations

Essential Skills

  * 

    Strong commercial experience with embedded C

  * 

    Experience working on bare-metal microcontrollers

  * 

    Familiarity with serial protocols such as UART, SPI and I²C

  * 

    Understanding of low-power / battery-powered design concepts

  * 

    Working knowledge of C#, ideally including WinForms

  * 

    Comfortable using oscilloscopes, multimeters and power supplies

  * 

    Confident working independently as the primary developer in a small team

Good to have:

  * 

    Detailed knowledge of encryption

  * 

    Front-end web development

  * 

    Deep hardware design or PCB layout

  * 

    Linux command-line and small utility scripting
