Embedded Software Engineer
Southampton | £38,000 to £50,000
A high tech product manufacturer is looking for an embedded software engineer to join its electronics team, working on the control and monitoring software behind a range of safety critical products. This is a software led position with hardware around it, and circuit design experience is not required.
The role covers writing and maintaining firmware on ARM based microcontrollers in C and C++, working with a real time operating system, implementing the usual serial and networked communications protocols, and bringing up and debugging boards on the bench. A comfortable working relationship with hardware matters far more than hardware design experience: the team is happy with someone who can be handed a board and a codebase and work out what is going on with it.
Applicants will need:
Around two to three years in embedded development
C and C++ on ARM based microcontrollers
Familiarity with a real time operating system and interfaces such as SPI, I2C, CAN or TCP/IP
