Role: Wellbeing Practitioner (Children and Young People)
Based: West Yorkshire
Hourly: £16 – 18 per hour (dependant on experience)
Start Date: July 2025
Duration: 6 months ongoing
Hours: Part-time – 25 hours
Our client, a leading children’s charity, providing support vulnerable children and young people across the UK are looking for an Emotional Health and Wellbeing Practitioners to join their innovative Open Access CYP Mental Health Service in West Yorkshire.
You will be working with a fantastic team and will be supporting them in introducing and delivering their groundbreaking CYP Emotional Well Being model across Leeds and the surrounding areas.
This will include working closely with a range of professionals and local services and supporting Children and Young people with low level mental health needs in their centres, schools and community services.
The role will include supporting Children and Young People ages 11-18 are experiencing low level mental health issues (including anxiety, social withdrawal, sleep and eating disturbances, and difficulties with attention and focus).
Synopsis of duties:
· Providing specialist support and advise to Children and Young People who need support with their mental health this can include drop-in support and advice, brief interventions and targeted support
. Supporting children and young people aged 11- 18 (up to 25 should the young person have additional needs) focusing on supporting them with coping mechanisms and strategies and through making referrals
. Providing emotional and practical support to Children and Young People
. Promoting the service in the local community, in schools and colleges
. Encouraging the child/young person to use tools to help better their mental health and offer coping strategies
. Working collaboratively with partners, ensuring the needs of service users are met
· Ensuring that safeguarding is of paramount importance, ensuring that all safeguarding measures are always followed
Hours and Shifts
The service runs from Monday to Saturday and they are looking for a candidate who can work 1 or 2 Saturdays a month (10am – 2pm).
Essential Requirements:
· Experience of working with children/young people and an ability to quickly engage and build rapport with young people
· Knowledge of the issues that children, young people and adults face when accessing mental health services and understanding of mental health issues faced by young people
. Strong understanding of child safeguarding
. Preferably have a qualification in one of the following: Health or Social Care related degree, JNC Qualified Youth Worker, Counselling/Therapist Qualification or equivalent
· Must have an enhanced DBS dated within the last 12 months or on the update service
