* Adaptive Teaching Practices: Employ scaffolded learning and adaptive techniques to challenge learners at all levels, promoting a high standard of achievement and supporting neurodiverse needs.
* Promote Literacy and Digital Skills: Integrate reading and digital literacy into lessons to boost literacy as a core employability skill, with a focus on supporting learners with low literacy levels.
* Restorative Learning Environment: Encourage self-reflection, responsibility, and growth through restorative practices, motivating learners to engage in positive self-improvement.
* Collaborate with Key Stakeholders: Work closely with prison departments, CIAG, Work & Skills Coaches, employers, and other stakeholders to create employment pathways and support reintegration.
* Individual Learning Plans (ILPs): Develop and manage ILPs tailored to each learner’s goals, literacy needs, and employability, using adaptive strategies to address diverse learning needs.
Person Specification:
* A relevant L2 qualification in employability and/or personal social development or life skills training.
* A recognised teaching qualification such as PTLLS, AET, CET, or equivalent.
* Full teaching qualification at Level 5 or above or equivalent (e.g. PGCE, Cert Ed, DTTLS) or willingness to work towards.
* Confidence in using a diverse range of presentation, facilitation and communication skills.
* The ability to handle challenging situations whilst remaining calm and in control especially in a group situation.
* Respect for and understanding of Safeguarding, Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety and Data Protection policies with specific attention to health and safety requirements when organising off-site activities.
* Effective Communication: Strong interpersonal skills, able to engage with stakeholders, motivate learners, and work collaboratively with prison staff.
* Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple learners, and stakeholder relationships.
* Experience in maintaining learner records, managing documentation, and meeting administrative requirements.
* Clear understanding of the OFSTED framework (EIF) with the ability to meet all standards.
* Ability to apply adaptive teaching techniques to meet diverse learning needs, ensuring all learners can progress in their employability and PSD courses.
