Job Description
A leading UK-based engineering manufacturer is currently seeking an experienced Buyer to join their close-knit and supportive purchasing team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established, forward-thinking business that designs and manufactures high-performance, bespoke equipment for the food processing industry.
You will play a key role in supporting operations by ensuring materials, components, and services are sourced efficiently, cost-effectively, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
*
Negotiate pricing and discounts with suppliers
*
Place and chase purchase orders across a wide range of items
*
Set up and manage service contracts and manage breakdown responses
*
Maintain appropriate stock levels
*
Obtain competitive quotes and source alternative suppliers
*
Secure approvals for high-value orders
*
Support the sourcing of new plant and machinery with Engineering and Operations
*
Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier data
*
Ensure purchasing quality and compliance
Candidate Requirements
*
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Buying role
*
Engineering or manufacturing purchasing experience is highly desirable
*
Excellent attention to detail
*
Strong problem-solving, planning, and time management skills
*
Confident communicator with the ability to manage multiple suppliers
