Engineering Buyer
Nottingham
Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 (DOE) + Bonus
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, flexible start/finish times with early finish on Friday

The Company:

Serving industries such as offshore oil and gas, power generation, cement, and metal processing, they are recognised for producing robust, lifetime-supported products that control airflow in critical applications. With plans for future expansion, they are focused on building a talented team and advancing employees from within. With the exciting new projects ahead, they're currently looking for an Engineering Buyer to join their project management team.
The Role:
As an Engineering Buyer, you will be responsible for all procurement activities supporting the engineering and manufacturing teams.
You will work closely with project managers and engineers to source the components, materials, and services required to deliver high-value engineering projects efficiently and cost-effectively.
Your responsibilities will include:
Sourcing materials, components, equipment, and services for complex engineered machinery
Interpreting technical drawings and BOMs to purchase correct items
Negotiating pricing, lead times, and terms with local and international suppliers
Raising POs and maintaining procurement records using SAP Business One
Managing international logistics and documentation for imports
Working closely with stakeholders to support up to 10 projects at a time (total spend up to £3m per year)
Monitoring supplier performance and managing delivery or quality issues
Contributing to cost reduction and continuous improvement of the supply chain
The Candidate:
The successful Engineering Buyer will be highly organised, confident, and commercially aware.
You’ll be comfortable working independently as the sole buyer for new projects, with the authority to make purchasing decisions and drive supplier performance.
Experience desired:
Proven procurement experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
Strong negotiation and communication skills
Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems – SAP B1 preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Level 3 Engineering qualification (minimum ONC)
Experience with international logistics/import/export is desirable
