Mechanical or electrical engineer with rolling stock experience required to become an engineering change manager for a train operating company that is introducing new fleets of trains and needs a risk conscious engineer to step into this management position.
Situation
Ford and Stanley are partnered with one of the largest Train operating companies in the UK, and we are looking for an Engineering change manager to take responsibility for the management and approval of engineering change requests. This person will apply their knowledge of rolling stock engineering and rail standards to ensure that the client is on top of their engineering change requests.
With a fleet of over 600 vehicles and a lot of new trains on order, this will likely be a position of influence over the next few years due to the expected number of ECR’s expected. One of the key challenges will be to ensure that the volume of outstanding engineering change requests open remains low. The more open requests outstanding, the more problems there are on the fleet. Therefore, the efficient delivery of the engineering change process is essential to the safe functional operating capability of the fleet.

£58,617 + TOC benefits

Candidate Specifications
Experienced Rolling Stock In Service engineer – modifications or maintenance. Not new build
Familiar with engineering change procedure
Knowledge of rail standards including Common Safety Method (CSM)
Capable of managing a process through themselves.
Mechanical or electrical background with a minimum of HNC qualification but likely a degree due to the details engineering thought process required
