Job Description

We are looking for an Engineering Manager, with a background in Nuclear and/or Defense, to work on a long term contract. The role can be remote with monthly visits to Glasgow or working on a hybrid basis in the Glasgow site. Rate is c£80-85 Umbrella per hour The successful Engineering Manager will either hold SC Clearance or have the ability to obtain and also be a Sole British National. Key Responsibilities for the Engineering Manager * Lead the production, upkeep, and implementation of the programme’s Safety Justification Plan. * Manage engineering support activities across all associated workstreams. * Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure requirements are captured and engineering activities are effectively managed. * Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with site safety management arrangements, processes, and procedures. * Provide guidance and technical support to Safety Case Engineers and Design Engineers. * Support optioneering activities and early-stage design decision-making within the programme. * Promote and reinforce positive engineering behaviours across the team. * Ensure system-specific Learning from Experience (LfE) is identified and shared within the engineering function. * Foster a culture of collaboration, openness, and continuous improvement. * Prepare and deliver safety case and engineering presentations related to programme activities. * Support programme delivery through effective communication and coordination with project teams and stakeholders. * Ensure compliance with all Environment, Health, Safety, Security, and Quality policies and contribute to ongoing improvement initiatives. Position Requirements Essential Skills & Experience * Degree qualification in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline. * Chartered Engineer status or a clear path to chartership with evidence of ongoing professional development. * Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance within highly regulated industries and relevant authorised conditions. Desirable Skills & Experience for the Engineering Manager Experience in one or more of the following areas: * Regulatory compliance within highly regulated industries, including assurance responsibilities. * Technical assurance and oversight activities. * Project engineering, including site-based implementation and integration. * Application of relevant legislation, standards, and industry codes. * Working within complex or highly regulated operational environments. * Producing technical documentation such as reports, specifications, and technical queries. * Engaging and managing diverse stakeholder groups. * Completing site visits with associated health and safety awareness. * Development or management of safety cases. * Working both autonomously and within multidisciplinary teams. * Supervising or mentoring engineering personnel. * Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational, written, and verbal communication skills.
