S&D Trade Recruitment is working alongside a leading manufacturing company, part of an international group, to recruit an Engineering Manager. Based in Bredbury, this well-established organisation delivers high-quality engineered solutions to clients across a variety of industrial sectors.
As an Engineering Manager, you’ll take on a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions, ensuring operational efficiency, and driving technical excellence across the department. The successful candidate will have a background in electrical or mechanical engineering, a proven ability to manage teams, and experience collaborating with Engineering Procurement Contractors (EPCs) on large-scale industrial projects.

Working hours Monday to Thursday: 07:30 to 16:00, Friday: 07:30 to 12:50 (38 hours per week). Salary £50,000 to £55,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
Engineering Manager Duties:
* Lead and manage the engineering department, including both design and project engineering teams.
* Oversee the development, review, and delivery of engineering solutions that align with customer specifications and regulatory standards.
* Act as the main technical point of contact for EPCs, maintaining alignment on project scopes, timelines, and deliverables.
* Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, workflows, and documentation.
* Work collaboratively with sales, operations, and product development to support business objectives and customer satisfaction.
* Ensure engineering outputs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and internal quality protocols.
* Mentor and develop engineering staff, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and technical excellence.
Engineering Manager Requirments:
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another relevant field of engineering.
* Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a technical engineering environment, including at least 5 years in a managerial or leadership capacity.
* Proven experience delivering complex industrial projects, particularly in coordination with Engineering Procurement Contractors (EPCs).
* Solid understanding of heat tracing systems, temperature maintenance solutions, or industrial electrical infrastructure is highly desirable.
* Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills, with a structured approach to managing teams and technical project delivery.
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-demand setting.
* Experience overseeing international projects or working with globally distributed teams is an advantage.
* Proficient in engineering software tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ETAP, or equivalent platforms.
* Familiarity with ATEX/IECEx design requirements and hazardous area compliance standards is preferred.
