Job description
We have an opportunity for a Project Manager, responsible for the planning, management, coordination and financial control of projects. The position would be primarily based at our offices in Worcester but there would be a requirement to travel and occasionally spend extended periods at customer sites.
This role would be primarily suited to someone who has experience of running multi-faceted projects with a mix of internal equipment and specialist contractors. We are a Project business, and no two Projects are the same.
You will need to lead with initiative and have demonstrable skills in achieving tight project schedules. Ideally you will come from an electrical or mechanical engineering background and developed the required commercial skills to be an effective PM.
Reporting to: Head of Projects
Tasks:
Cradle to grave financial and timeline responsibility of assigned Projects.
Kick off a project with all relevant departments, agreeing deadlines and costs
Manage and update Project Plans in line with current estimations.
Lead and motivate the project team including both internal and external stakeholders.
Provide financial forecasting of your projects, estimating cost to complete and expected Project performance.
Track obstacles to Project completion and manage them to a timely resolution.
Strong negotiation skills with the client to ensure their timelines and payment milestones are adhered to.
Liaise with all departments and be the lead of all Project communication.
Investigate the typical pitfalls and push your projects through to completion. Escalate situations to the relevant tier of management as necessary.
Negotiate additions to contract for any work outside of original scope.
Close the Project - including evaluating successes and challenges to enhance learning for the future.
Desirables:
Turnkey project business background
Mechanical or Electrical Engineering background.
Project Management certification.
5 years' experience in a similar role
Personal Characteristics & Skills:
Excellent planning and organisational skills (self & others).
Technically minded with a solution-driven work ethic.
Resilience & excellent communication skills both verbal & written at all levels.
Ability to problem solve and make commercial decisions.
Read & interpret engineering drawings.
Deliver to tight deadlines consistently.
Ability to work on own initiative.
Passionate about engineering.
Ideally HNC / Degree level although experience is essential
Strong negotiation skills
