Job Description

Questech Recruitment have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Engineering Team Leader to join a well-established and growing business based in Gainsborough.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the engineering function, ensuring equipment reliability, driving continuous improvement, and leading a skilled maintenance team within a fast-paced environment.

The Salary
£51,358 per year

The Role
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will lead the engineering team to maximise equipment availability, minimise downtime, and support operational excellence across the site.

Key Responsibilities

  * 

    Lead, motivate and develop the engineering team to achieve high performance.

  * 

    Plan, prioritise and coordinate maintenance activities across the site.

  * 

    Ensure planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules are completed effectively.

  * 

    Respond to breakdowns, providing technical support and driving root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.

  * 

    Promote a proactive maintenance culture focused on continuous improvement.

  * 

    Ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental procedures.

  * 

    Manage engineering resources and contractors where required.

  * 

    Monitor engineering KPIs and identify opportunities to improve reliability and efficiency.

  * 

    Support capital investment and equipment improvement projects.

  * 

    Work closely with production and operations teams to maximise plant performance.

Essential Requirements

  * 

    Previous experience leading or supervising an engineering or maintenance team.

  * 

    Strong background within a manufacturing, production or industrial environment.

  * 

    Mechanical and/or electrical engineering qualifications (Apprenticeship, HNC/HND or Degree).

  * 

    Experience with planned preventative maintenance systems.

  * 

    Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.

  * 

    Excellent organisational and communication skills.

  * 

    Knowledge of health and safety legislation within manufacturing.

  * 

    Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.

Desirable

  * 

    Multi-skilled engineering background.

  * 

    Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, TPM or Six Sigma.

  * 

    Knowledge of CMMS systems.

  * 

    Experience leading engineering improvement or reliability projects.
