Job Description

English Academic Coach   Do you want classroom experience in English before applying for teacher training? Could you deliver targeted 1:1 and small-group support that boosts progress in KS3 and KS4?   *** English Academic Coach *** Immediate start until July 2026 *** £81 - £101 per day *** ‘Good’ secondary school, Wolverhampton *** 1:1 and small group academic support across English in KS3 & KS4   The Role: Work with the English department to close gaps in reading, writing and analysis. You’ll run short intervention groups, provide 1:1 tutoring, support revision and exam skills, and help prepare concise resources. You’ll note impact and share clear next steps with teachers.   The Candidate: You hold a degree (English or related preferred), communicate clearly, and can explain ideas in simple steps. You’re organised, positive and keen to develop towards teacher training.   Requirements • Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject. • Communication – Clear and confident verbal and written communication. • Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate. • Desire to work in education/with children – Genuine interest in supporting pupil progress and wellbeing. • Experience working with children – Any relevant experience (tutoring, mentoring, volunteering) is desirable but not essential.   The School: This ‘Good’ secondary in Wolverhampton has strong routines, supportive leadership and a collaborative English team.
