Roles and Responsibilities
* Have regard for the need to safeguard pupils’ well-being following statutory provisions
* Teach engaging and inspiring lessons, fostering curiosity and a passion for reading and writing
* Create a dynamic classroom environment that encourages discussion, creativity and critical thinking
* Support students in developing strong literacy skills, enhancing their ability to write with clarity, imagination and purpose
* Nurture confidence through structured guidance, thoughtful feedback and personalised learning approaches
* Bring texts to life, introducing students to a rich variety of authors, genres, cultures and viewpoints
* Using assessment effectively to monitor progress, identify next steps and adapt teaching accordingly
* Working collaboratively with colleagues, parents and support staff to ensure the best outcomes for every student
* Demonstrate strong classroom management skills following the school’s behaviour policy
* Upholding professional standards and a commitment to ongoing reflection and improvement
Qualifications and Experience:
* Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
* Read the DfE ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ (2025 document)
* Proven experience teaching English at KS3/KS4 level (KS5 is advantageous)
Vetting Checks:
* Right to Work in the UK (No Limitations)
* Enhanced DBS Certificate on the Update Service (Child/Child & Adult Workforce)
* Reference checks covering the last 2 years of employment or education
