The school is seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join their thriving English department. Key Responsibilities
Deliver engaging and challenging English lessons across KS3 and KS4 in line with the national curriculum.
Plan and deliver lessons that foster creativity, critical thinking, and strong literacy skills.
Teach a range of texts, genres, and writing styles, from Shakespeare to contemporary literature.
Assess, record, and report on student progress and attainment.
Provide constructive feedback to support student growth and achievement.
Maintain discipline and encourage high standards of behaviour, punctuality, and effort.
Support students in developing confidence in reading, writing, and speaking.
Prepare students for GCSE examinations and other assessments.
Collaborate with colleagues to develop schemes of work and innovative teaching strategies.
Organise and contribute to extracurricular activities such as reading clubs, creative writing workshops, or drama productions.
Communicate effectively with parents and carers to support student development.
Contribute to whole-school initiatives and the wider life of the school community.
Key Skills & Qualities
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
Strong subject knowledge in English and a genuine passion for literature and language.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Effective classroom and behaviour management techniques.
Ability to inspire and motivate students of varying abilities.
Empathy, patience, and adaptability when working with students requiring additional support.
Essential Requirements
QTS or equivalent teaching qualification.
Experience teaching English in line with the national curriculum.
An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
Desirable
Experience supporting students with SEN.
Experience leading extracurricular activities related to English.
