Job Description
A welcoming and ambitious secondary school in Wigan is looking for an enthusiastic and committed English Teacher to join from September 2025.

The Opportunity
As an English Teacher, you will:
Teach English Language and Literature across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering high-quality, engaging lessons.
Promote reading for pleasure and critical thinking through rich and diverse texts.
Create a classroom culture that fosters confidence, curiosity, and creativity.
Support student achievement with a focus on literacy, communication, and analytical skills.
Contribute to the wider life of the English department through clubs, competitions, and school events.
Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and drive continual improvement.
What We're Looking For
We are seeking a teacher who:
Holds a relevant English degree and has Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Has a genuine enthusiasm for literature and language, and the ability to inspire that in students.
Understands the English National Curriculum and is up to date with current educational approaches.
Strives for high standards in teaching, learning, and student outcomes.
Can build strong, positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
Has experience teaching in a secondary setting - although Early Career Teachers (ECTs) are also encouraged to applyBefore You Apply
