Are you passionate about the power of literature and literacy to transform lives?
A well-structured and high-standards secondary school in North Birmingham is seeking a talented English Teacher to join their English faculty from September. This is a school where students read regularly, write often, and engage in meaningful discussion — with the systems in place to ensure teaching is always the focus.
Your Responsibilities:
Deliver English Language and Literature to KS3 and KS4
Teach from a sequenced curriculum that balances core texts and creative writing
Support students in developing vocabulary, grammar, and analytical skills
Contribute to a reading culture, with DEAR time and regular reading interventions
Engage in whole-school literacy initiatives and data-driven intervention

Weekly CPD with time to refine your teaching craft
Strong SEND and pastoral support for vulnerable learners
Reading is part of the culture, not just the curriculum
Ideal Candidate Profile:
QTS and a degree in English or related subject
Strong subject knowledge and a love of reading and writing
High standards for pupil conduct and academic rigour
Able to collaborate in planning and contribute to school-wide literacy
