English Teacher - PRU – Bury – Step Teachers, Manchester Step Teachers are hiring for an English Teacher in Bury! – Full-Time, Long-Term We are seeking a dedicated and resilient English Teacher to join a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Bury, supporting small groups of students with SEMH and associated needs, starting ASAP. This is a full-time, long-term position with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate. The Basics 📍 Location: Bury 📅 Start: ASAP 💷 Pay: Up to £200 / day for first 12 weeks (PAYE). What You’ll Be Doing • Delivering engaging and differentiated English lessons to small groups of students with SEMH needs. • Building positive relationships and using de-escalation strategies to support behaviour. • Helping students to develop confidence in literacy and communication skills, alongside academic progress. • Tracking progress and tailoring interventions to support individual learning needs. • Contributing to whole-school initiatives that promote resilience, self-esteem, and achievement. Who You Are • Experience teaching English across KS3 & KS4 (PRU/alternative provision experience desirable but not essential). • Strong classroom management skills with the ability to build trust and rapport. • Passionate about supporting young people who face barriers to learning. • Flexible, patient, and creative in your teaching approach. • A team player who thrives in a nurturing, supportive environment. What You’ll Need • CV covering your last 10 years of work. • Proof of right to work & address in the UK. • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to buy a new one). • References covering the last 2 years (one from a school). • QTS/QTLS certificate or recognised equivalent.
