Job Description

English Teacher – SEMH Specialist (GCSE & Functional Skills) Independent SEMH School | London | £33,000 p.a. Working hours are 9:30am–4:00pm We’re working with a small, specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in London to find an exceptional English Teacher who thrives in a therapeutic, nurturing environment. With fewer than 20 students on roll and class sizes typically under 5 with a focus on 1 to 1, this is an opportunity to make a genuine impact. The Role * Teach GCSE English (Language and/or Literature) and Functional Skills Level 1/2 * Deliver tailored, engaging lessons to small groups and 1:1 * Teaching hours are 10am–12pm and 1pm–3pm, Monday to Friday * Create and adapt schemes of work to support a therapeutic, personalised curriculum * Support wider learning through workshops and enrichment activities * Opportunities to take on additional responsibilities and subject leadership * Contribute to a collaborative, emotionally aware staff team Who We’re Looking For * Significant English teaching/tutoring experience * Strong subject knowledge and passion for English * Experience with SEMH or alternative education settings is highly desirable * Therapeutic mindset and emotionally literate approach to teaching * Committed to student wellbeing and inclusive education Details * £33,000 per annum (based on 39 working weeks) * Small, supportive team with a shared commitment to student-centred education * Excellent CPD and scope for professional growth If you're ready to teach differently—putting student wellbeing at the heart of learning—get in touch today
