About the Role:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join our vibrant and supportive secondary school community in Sheffield. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality English lessons to students across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience and departmental needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons in line with the national curriculum.
Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, providing constructive feedback to support learning.
Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and achievement.
Contribute to the development of the English curriculum and participate in departmental planning and meetings.
Support students in developing strong literacy skills, critical thinking, and a love for literature.
Participate in school events, parent evenings, and extracurricular activities as required.
Uphold the school's values, policies, and safeguarding procedures.
Person Specification:
Essential:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
A degree in English or a related subject.
Proven experience teaching English at secondary level.
Strong classroom management skills and the ability to inspire and motivate students.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.Desirable:
Experience teaching English Literature and Language at GCSE and/or A-Level.
Familiarity with current educational research and best practices in English teaching.
Willingness to contribute to extracurricular activities such as drama, creative writing, or reading clubs.
