Job Description
Milk Education is working in partnership with a nurturing secondary school in Trafford to recruit a passionate and committed English Teaching Assistant to join the school from September. The successful candidate will be based within the English department, supporting students in Years 7–11, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and a range of learning needs.
This full-time role is ideal for an English graduate or someone with a strong background in English Language and/or Literature who is enthusiastic about inspiring young people and supporting their academic progress.
Key Responsibilities
Provide tailored support to students in English on a 1:1 and small group basis.
Assist in planning and delivering engaging and accessible English activities.
Support pupils with SEND and a variety of learning needs to access the English curriculum.
Work collaboratively with English teachers, the SENCO, and other support staff to implement individualised learning strategies.
Encourage student engagement and confidence in reading, writing, and critical thinking.
Monitor and report student progress effectively.
Help maintain a calm, inclusive, and focused classroom environment.
Ideal Candidate
Degree in English Language, English Literature, or a related subject.
Strong subject knowledge and a genuine enthusiasm for English.
Experience working with secondary-aged students is desirable but not essential.
Awareness of SEND and inclusive education practices, or a willingness to learn.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Reliable, empathetic, and confident working both independently and as part of a team.
