Environmental Advisor
Location: Hinkley Point C.
Employment Type: Full-time, site-based
About the Role:
We are seeking a proactive Environmental Advisor to support a major UK infrastructure project in the South West. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with environmental legislation, drive best practice on-site, and promote a strong environmental culture across all project teams and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide specialist advice on UK environmental legislation and industry best practice to ensure full project compliance.
Implement and maintain the project’s Environmental Management System (EMS) in alignment with ISO 14001 standards.
Guide project teams and subcontractors in adopting sustainable construction practices and achieving environmental compliance.
Develop and foster strong working relationships with environmental regulators, local authorities, and key stakeholders.
Lead and coordinate environmental inspections, audits, and investigations to identify risks and drive improvement.
Support delivery teams in meeting environmental performance goals and promoting a culture of continual improvement.
Qualifications & Experience:
Degree (or equivalent) in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or a related discipline.
Proven experience operating within an ISO 14001-compliant EMS, including procedure development and implementation.
Background in construction or large infrastructure projects with strong site-based experience.
Excellent communication and influencing skills with the ability to engage with contractors, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
Solid understanding of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and client/contractor responsibilities.
Desirable:
Experience in soil and materials management (CL:AIRE protocol).
Familiarity with Environmental Permitting Regulations (EPR) compliance.
