Environmental Health Officer Facilities & Environment | Belfast City Council | Temporary Ongoing | 37 Hours per Week Pay: £23.37 per hour
We are recruiting an experienced Environmental Health Officer to join Belfast City Council's Environmental Health Service on a temporary basis, providing cover within the Food Safety team.
About the Role
You will play a key role in improving the health and quality of life of people in Belfast through the efficient delivery of environmental health duties. Working under the guidance of a Senior Environmental Health Officer, you will carry out enforcement, investigative, educational and advisory work, while contributing to the wider objectives of the Environmental Health Service.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out enforcement, investigative, educational and advisory duties within your assigned area of work
Organise your workload to meet agreed targets and deliver a quality, customer-focused service
Liaise proactively with public, private, voluntary and community organisations
Provide reports, records and statistical information as required
Keep up to date with developments in your area of work through continuing professional development
Contribute to project work as directed by senior officers
Occasionally work outside normal office hours, including providing cover for out-of-hours services such as the night-time noise service
Participate in training, induction and the council's recruitment and selection procedures as requiredWhat You'll Need
Full, current driving licence valid in NI and access to a car for official business (reasonable adjustments considered for applicants with disabilities)
BSc/MSc in Environmental Health approved by CIEH, or equivalent qualification acceptable to the Environmental Health Registration Board
EHORB Certificate of Registration or EHP status with CIEH (or willingness to register within 18 months of appointment)
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with confident report writing
Good knowledge of environmental health issues
Ability to plan, prioritise, and work independently to targets
Strong teamworking, decision-making, and customer care skills
Competent IT skills, including standard office and specialist softwareDetails
