Job: Environmental & Sustainability Advisor Pay: £Negotiable (Contract via umbrella Inside IR35) Duration: 6+ months Location: Sunderland (You will be required to travel around the UK) Description Our client is working in partnership with Eastern Green Link and are seeking an Environmental Advisor who has 5+ years working within the energy/ construction industry to join them on a contractual basis. EGL1 will be known as a superhighway for electricity, whereby large amounts of power will be transmitted long distances before reaching the electrical grid. The project is currently live and is expected to be operational by 2029. Your involvement will be crucial to ensure all the requirements are dealt with and delivered within a timely manner, not to mention part of one of the most influential projects this country is proud to build. Key Accountabilities; Responsible for reducing the environmental risk associated with construction activities within the EGL1 IJV Provide visible environmental engagement and support across EGL1 and its supply chain across both England and Scotland. Work in partnership with the internal project team in the development and implementation of the project environmental & sustainability strategy and a proactive approach to environmental management; ensuring the risk to the environment is managed effectively Support the monitoring of contractor performance and compliance across all of the EGL1 IJV operations Contribute towards developing a positive environmental & sustainability culture across the EGL1 project Advise project leadership on performance against environmental targets, opportunities and key performance indicators Work with colleagues from Scottish Power Transmission within the EGL1 IJV SHES Team Provide expertise, assistance and support for environmental incidents Requirements Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability and confidence to communicate and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation Capability to engage and inform internal and external stakeholders in positive, constructive ways A drive and enthusiasm for continuous improvement and experience of change management Has a manner, style and presence that makes a positive impression Passion for embedding a positive environmental culture Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills Experience of working with regulatory agencies and external stakeholders Current driving licence (as the role will require travel both within England and Scotland)
