Are you an Environment & Sustainability professional looking to make an impact on one of the UK’s most significant renewable energy infrastructure projects?
This is an exciting opportunity to join a major contractor’s renewable energy infrastructure team as an Environmental & Sustainability Advisor on a landmark underground cabling project that will help power the UK’s low-carbon future.
With environmental compliance and sustainability targets at the heart of the programme, you’ll play a vital role in supporting their operational teams deliver excellence across ecology, carbon management, BREEAM Infrastructure and biodiversity net gain.
About the role:
* Provide hands-on environmental and sustainability support to delivery teams on a multi-year infrastructure project.
* Carry out environmental inspections across project works and construction sites, ensuring compliance with legal, client and company standards.
* Develop and maintain environmental management and sustainability plans.
* Liaise with regulators, clients and subcontractors to ensure permits and consents are in place and best practice achieved.
* Support incident investigations and continual improvement initiatives.
* Contribute to achieving project KPIs around BREEAM Infrastructure, carbon management and biodiversity.
This is a hands on, site-based role with no set hybrid option. Based in their Market Weighton office with at least one day per week out and about on site initially, increasing as construction ramps up.
What we’re looking for:
* A degree in Environmental Science or a similar related subject - or equivalent practical experience in an environmental or sustainability role
* Prior experience in a site-based environmental or sustainability role
* Understanding of environmental planning, permitting and consents (essential).
* Comfortable in a live project delivery environment and happy to be office/site-based.
* Full driving licence and willingness to travel between office and site.
Desirable:
* IEMA membership
* Internal environmental auditor (ISO 14001) qualification
* Knowledge of the utilities/construction/engineering operating environment
