Job Description
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced systems engineering professional to join the Actuation Systems Centre of Excellence as the Equipment Chief Systems Engineer (Actuation Systems), leading the design and delivery of complex actuation systems across a range of UK and international defence programmes.
This role performs the duties of the lead systems engineer for all actuation system projects and reports to the Head of the Actuation Systems Centre of Excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide systems engineering leadership for all actuation system development activities across multiple programmes
* Own the technical definition, design assurance and delivery of actuation solutions throughout the full lifecycle
* Act as the focal point for actuation systems, influencing architecture, driving engineering strategy and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders
* Manage engineering risk, traceability and technical delivery across concurrent contracts
* Lead and develop a high-performing systems engineering team specialising in actuation technologies
The successful candidate will have:
* Deep systems engineering experience with a strong emphasis on actuation systems, mechatronics or high-integrity control subsystems
* Proven track record of delivering complex systems through the full lifecycle in a defence, aerospace or similarly regulated environment
* Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience working with internal multi-disciplinary teams and international customers
* Confident leading engineering teams, developing capability and shaping systems strategy
* Skilled in applying systems engineering processes, methods and tools across complex programmes
