Job Description

Semefab is an established silicon wafer foundry based in Glenrothes, manufacturing microelectronics and MEMS devices for customers worldwide. Supporting multinational organisations, SMEs, start-ups and leading academic institutions, the business has built an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality products into global markets. As part of continued investment in its manufacturing capability, Semefab is looking to appoint an Equipment Engineer to join its experienced engineering team. This opportunity would suit either an Equipment Engineer or a technically capable Maintenance Engineer who enjoys fault finding, solving problems and working on automated manufacturing equipment. Previous semiconductor experience would certainly be advantageous, however it is not essential. We are far more interested in finding someone with strong engineering fundamentals, a logical approach to troubleshooting and a genuine desire to learn. If you enjoy understanding how equipment works, diagnosing faults and continually developing your technical knowledge, we'd like to hear from you. The Role Working within a cleanroom manufacturing environment, you'll help maintain and improve a wide range of specialist manufacturing equipment used to produce semiconductor devices. The equipment incorporates electrical systems, electronics, pneumatics, robotics and precision mechanical assemblies, with full training provided to develop your knowledge of the processes and equipment unique to the semiconductor industry. Working alongside experienced engineers, you'll play an important role in ensuring equipment reliability, supporting production and contributing towards continuous improvement across the site. Key Responsibilities * Diagnose and repair faults across electrical, electronic, pneumatic and mechanical systems. * Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to maximise equipment reliability and performance. * Investigate equipment failures, identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions. * Support equipment upgrades, qualification activities and engineering changes. * Work closely with Process Engineers, Manufacturing and Production teams to minimise downtime. * Accurately complete maintenance documentation and follow quality procedures. * Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, performance and efficiency. About You We're open-minded about the industry you've worked in. You may already have semiconductor experience, but we would also welcome applications from engineers working in other manufacturing or technically demanding environments where fault finding, diagnostics and equipment reliability are key. You might currently work within: * Electronics manufacturing * Medical devices * Aerospace or defence * Automated production * Food or pharmaceutical manufacturing * Scientific or laboratory equipment * Precision engineering * Military engineering or technical service You'll ideally have: * Experience maintaining technically complex manufacturing or production equipment. * Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across electrical and mechanical systems. * An HNC (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline, or be a time-served engineer with relevant industrial experience. * A logical, methodical approach to problem solving. * The confidence to work independently while contributing positively as part of a close-knit engineering team. * A genuine curiosity and willingness to learn. Above all, we're looking for someone who enjoys solving technical problems and wants to continue developing as an engineer. Why Join Semefab? This is an opportunity to join a business that genuinely invests in its people. You'll work alongside a highly experienced engineering team who are passionate about sharing their knowledge and supporting your development. As your experience grows, you'll be trusted to take ownership of equipment, make decisions and play an important role in maintaining the performance of the manufacturing operation. The role offers: * Monday to Friday working pattern (37.5 hours) * Early finish every Friday * Excellent salary and benefits package * Structured training and ongoing technical development * Long-term career opportunities within a highly respected manufacturing business * A collaborative team culture where engineers are encouraged to learn, contribute and develop If you're looking for an engineering role where your technical ability, attitude and willingness to learn are valued as much as your previous industry experience, we'd be delighted to hear from you
