Job Description
Service Care Solutions are recruiting for an Escort / Fabric Officer (Escort / Fabric Operative) to support facilities operations on a secure custodial site. This is an excellent opportunity for someone practical and hands-on who enjoys problem-solving, learning new skills, and supporting the safe, day-to-day running of a busy site.
Role Overview:To perform a wide variety of repair and maintenance tasks, these can include plumbing, painting, minor repairs, repair replace building fabric items.
To ensure the safety of personnel assigned to you in the capacity of Escort.
To carry out escorting and supervisory responsibilities to support the efficient running of the establishment.
Pay details:
• £175 per day (Umbrella)
• Ad-hoc / bank bookings – no fixed hours (work offered as and when required)
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
● Changing light bulbs
● Ensuring other fixtures and fittings are in good working order.
● Minor plumbing and carpentry
● Clearing or cleaning general areas
● Moving furniture or equipment
● Assembling furniture or equipment
● Footpath maintenance
● Painting and decorating
● Clearing gutters
● Changing filters on air conditioning systems
● Maintaining property exterior through the different seasons
● Putting up notice boards
● To escort technical contractors when required, working with, and supervising them in accordance with Local Security Strategy (LSS)
● To maintain regular communications via radio net in accordance with (LSS)
● To comply with Health & Safety policies, procedures, and legislation to ensure statutory and mandatory compliance.
● To drive estates vehicles and operate plant equipment where required.
● To undertake incidental and emergency or urgent tasks and assignments as per Service Delivery Agreement timescales in a Last updated: 09/10/24 Date of next review: 09/10/25 Pride In People Do The Right Thing One Team safe manner
● To oversee, chaperone prisoners and ensure they stay within their designated areas lawfully, safely, and securely.
● To keep an account of those in your charge and maintain proper order.
● To perform security checks and search procedures on prisoners, staff and visitors where required
● To assist in prisoner reviews where required
● To deal with incidents as the 'first on scene' and work as part of a team to resolve the issues.
● To employ authorised physical control and restraint procedures where appropriate
● To take care of prisoners' property where required
● To be aware of prisoners' rights and dignity and their personal responsibility
● To provide appropriate care and support for vulnerable prisoners and those at risk of self-harm
● To promote anti-bullying and suicide prevention policies
● To develop relationships with other specialist staff, including health and social work professionals
● To assist in the preparation of relevant reports and documentation for managers/quality checking purposes
● To maintain and update records and write prisoner reports where required.
● You may be required to perform other Duties and responsibilities as assigned from time to time by the Site Manager
REQUIREMENTS
Essential:
• Experience using hand and power tools
• Practical experience in building fabric / maintenance or Hard FM
• Good understanding of Health & Safety and safe working practices
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to communicate professionally on site
Desirable:
• Level 2 English & Maths
• First Aid at Work
• Previous experience working in a secure environment
VETTING / ELIGIBILITY (IMPORTANT)
This role is subject to vetting that typically takes around 12 weeks. Because of vetting requirements:
• Applicants must have lived in the UK continuously for the last 5 years
• Applicants must not have any previous criminal convictions
