Estate Surveyor – London / Hybrid – £450 per day (Umbrella)
A London Local Authority is seeking an Interim Estate Surveyor to join its Corporate Property Team.
The Role
You will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day management of the Council’s property portfolio — including shops, operational sites, and land — ensuring assets are efficiently managed and delivering value for money.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the Council’s property portfolio, including processing applications for assignments, alterations, changes of use, licences, easements, and related matters.
Support the financial and operational performance of the estate, in line with the Council’s Corporate Objectives and Asset Management Plan.
Ensure rent roll collection is timely, maintaining accurate records, monitoring payments, reviewing arrears, and preparing options for corrective action.
Lead on rent reviews, lease renewals, and other landlord and tenant negotiations on behalf of the Council.
Oversee contractors delivering professional services such as asset valuations, rating advice, and lease consultancy.
Ensure compliance with landlord and tenant obligations, recommending corrective actions where necessary.
Provide expert advice on property ownership, leasehold obligations, acquisitions, disposals, rent reviews, and new lettings.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date property records following completion of transactions.
About You
Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) is essential.
Strong understanding of best practice in public sector asset and estate management.
Proven experience within an estate or asset management team.
