Adecco are pleased to be recruiting for an Estate and Environmental Service Team Manager to join Croydon Council. Contract: Temporary assignment Pay: £25.86 per hour PAYE or £34.24 per hour Umbrella Hours: 36 hours per week, working Monday - FridayAbout the Role Croydon Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Estates and Environmental Services Team Manager to lead a high-performing team delivering a first-class, customer-focused estates and environmental maintenance service. In this pivotal role, you'll be responsible for ensuring our estates are clean, safe, and welcoming for residents - while driving continuous improvement, operational excellence, and outstanding customer service standards. You'll lead and develop teams of Caretakers and Bulk Refuse staff, ensuring services are efficient, compliant, and aligned with our vision for vibrant, well-maintained communities across the borough. Key Responsibilities Lead, motivate and support caretaking and environmental services teams to deliver high-quality, responsive services. Ensure compliance with all health and safety, data protection, and regulatory standards. Drive service improvements, embedding a culture of excellence and accountability. Monitor performance, budgets, and contracts to ensure value for money. Engage effectively with residents, contractors, and partners to ensure community needs are met. Conduct regular inspections and audits to maintain high environmental standards across estates.About You You'll be an effective and inclusive leader with experience managing estates or housing services within a diverse community. You bring strong communication skills, sound judgement, and a genuine passion for delivering excellent services to residents. Essential experience and skills: Proven experience leading care taking or environmental maintenance teams. Strong understanding of health and safety and environmental legislation. Experience managing budgets and ensuring compliance with policies and standards. Ability to build positive relationships with residents, stakeholders, and partner agencies. Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, with a focus on results and continuous improvement.A full driving licence and flexibility to attend evening meetings (and occasional weekend work) are required.
