Estimating Assistant – £28,000 per annum

Taffs Well | Full-Time, Permanent
Office based

Hours from 8.30am – 4.30pm Monday to Friday

TAY Recruitment is pleased to be recruiting on behalf of our client for a detail-oriented and proactive Estimating Assistant to join their growing team in Taffs Well. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, project-driven environment and is looking to build a long-term career within the construction and estimating sector.

About the Role

As an Estimating Assistant, you will play a key part in supporting both the estimating and sales teams by preparing accurate costings and schedules. You will work closely with technical drawings, tender documents, and suppliers to help ensure all quotes and proposals are precise and delivered on time.

Key Responsibilities

  * Carry out detailed take-offs from floor plans and architectural drawings.

  * Identify and extract key information from tender documents, including window schedules, elevations, product keys, and floor plans.

  * Prepare accurate, clear, and comprehensive schedules for the estimating team.

  * Communicate with clients to request further information or deadline extensions when required.

  * Annotate and mark plans based on take-offs for clear handover to internal teams.

  * Liaise with suppliers to obtain project-specific pricing and ensure estimates use the most up-to-date costs.

Skills & Experience Required

  * Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PDF software; confident with the Microsoft 365 suite.

  * Ability to work independently, prioritise workload, and take initiative.

  * Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate within a team environment.

  * Highly organised with excellent time management skills to meet tight deadlines.

  * Confident in reading and interpreting technical drawings.

  * Basic understanding of construction terminology is preferred but not essential.
