Job Overview
We’re recruiting on behalf of a leading specialist contractor within the fire protection sector who are seeking a dedicated Estimator with a strong background in fire stopping to join their team. With a reputation for delivering high-quality work across a range of commercial, residential, and public sector projects, this company continues to grow its passive fire division and is now looking to strengthen its pre-construction team.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to work across varied projects, liaise directly with clients and site teams, and play a key role in shaping project costs from concept to completion.
Duties
* Prepare accurate cost estimates for fire stopping works based on site surveys, drawings, and specifications
* Conduct regular site visits and surveys to inform and validate estimates
* Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and build relationships
* Assist in tender preparation and bid submissions
* Identify value engineering opportunities while maintaining compliance
* Liaise closely with operations and project teams to ensure smooth project handovers
* Stay up to date with current fire safety standards and best practice in passive fire protection
Experience
* Proven experience estimating fire stopping works (essential)
* Familiarity with fire door installations and materials (desirable but not essential)
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and site layouts
* Strong understanding of passive fire protection systems and materials
* Comfortable conducting site surveys and engaging with clients on-site
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel when needed
* Good commercial awareness and attention to detail
