Job Description
Estimator
Our client are a civil engineering and groundworks contractor, known for delivering high-quality groundwork solutions for residential and commercial development projects.
They are now seeking an experienced Groundworks Estimator to join their team in a strategic, client-facing role. This position will lead the estimating function, support the bid pipeline, and play a key part in identifying repeat business and driving commercial success.

Monday - Thursday 08:00-17:00; early finish on Fridays (16:00)
Office-based with weekly site visits (typically within a one-hour radius)
Hybrid working can be considered if it's essential for you
Salary up to £60,000 (DOE)

Key Responsibilities
Take the lead in pricing tenders for residential and commercial groundworks packages
Produce accurate take-offs, cost plans, and tender submissions within deadlines
Attend pre- and post-tender meetings with clients, engineers, and developers
Build strong working relationships with existing and prospective clients
Identify and contribute to securing new business and repeat work opportunities
Collaborate with senior leadership on estimating strategy and bid planning
Maintain current knowledge of material and labour costs, contracting rates, and market trends
Provide support to the construction delivery team as requiredEstimator
Role Requirements
Demonstrable experience as an estimator within groundworks or civil engineering
Strong knowledge of tendering processes and commercial risk management
Established network of industry contacts (developers, contractors, subcontractors) is a strong advantage
Excellent communication skills and confident in client-facing situations
Proactive, well-organised, and able to manage workload independently or in a team setting
Competent with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite
