Job Description
Brownlee Cale is recruiting on behalf of a well-established Civil Engineering contractor with a strong reputation for delivering complex infrastructure schemes across Wales and the North West.
They’re now looking to appoint an experienced Civils Estimator to join their pre-construction team, supporting tendering across a range of projects with a mixture of new and exisiting clients.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for civil engineering projects — from initial tender through to final submission. Working closely with design, planning, and delivery teams, you’ll play a key role in securing work and ensuring each bid is well-developed and commercially sound.
Projects include water infrastructure upgrades, drainage, highways, and general civil works for both public and private sector clients.
Key Responsibilities
* Review tender documentation and prepare detailed cost estimates
* Analyse drawings, specifications, and scope to identify opportunities and risks
* Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations
* Work collaboratively with design and operations teams to develop value engineering solutions
* Support post-tender negotiations and handover to delivery teams
About You
* Proven experience as an Estimator within civil engineering and construction
* Good understanding of construction methods, materials, and pricing
* Strong commercial and numerical skills with attention to detail
* Confident communicator, able to work across departments and with clients
* Ideally qualified to HNC/HND or degree level in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying
