Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and driven Estimator to join a leading main contractor based in Warrington. This is a key leadership role within the pre-construction team, responsible for delivering high-quality cost estimates across a diverse portfolio of civil engineering projects including rail infrastructure, highways, and port developments.
You will play a pivotal role in securing major projects, supporting strategic bids, and mentoring a growing estimating team.
Key Responsibilities
  * Lead the preparation of detailed and accurate cost estimates for complex civil engineering projects.
  * Oversee and coordinate the full tendering process from initial enquiry through to submission
  * Analyse drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive pricing
  * Engage with supply chain partners to obtain competitive quotations and build strong relationships
  * Identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering options within tenders
  * Collaborate closely with planning, commercial, and operational teams
  * Present and review estimates with senior leadership and stakeholders
  * Support business development activities and contribute to winning work strategies
  * Mentor and develop junior estimators within the team
Requirements
  * Proven experience in a senior or principal estimating role within a main contractor environment
  * Strong background in civil engineering, ideally across rail, highways, or port projects
  * Excellent knowledge of construction methods, contracts, and pricing structures
  * Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office tools
  * Excellent communication and leadership abilities
Salary is upto £85,000 + Pkg.
