Job Description
ROLE: Estimator – Civil Engineering
LOCATION: Mid-Kent
SALARY: Circa 60,000 - £70,000 DOE
THE COMPANY
This organisation is a leading civil engineering contractor delivering projects across the Southern Home Counties. This organisation who are based in Mid Kent have a wealth of experience working on residential and commercial projects. Due to continued growth, they are seeking a skilled and motivated Estimator to join our dynamic team.
THE JOB
As an Estimator, you’ll play a pivotal part in the pre-construction team. You’ll be responsible for preparing development budgets, estimates, and cashflow forecasts — from initial cost planning through to final submission before projects move to the Quantity Surveying and Buying teams.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil engineering packages including labour, plant, materials, and subcontractor input
* Interpret technical drawings and project specifications to provide accurate, comprehensive costings
* Build full development budgets and analyse subcontractor/supplier quotes
* Monitor project costs and provide ongoing budget updates
* Identify commercial risks and suggest mitigation strategies
* Support value engineering and provide commercial input at tender stage
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
* Proven experience in a similar Estimating role within groundworks or civil engineering
* In-depth knowledge of pre-construction processes and estimating methodologies
* Confident working with budgets, forecasting, and project financials
* Strong analytical and communication skills
* Experience using estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Conquest, etc.) is beneficial
* A team player who values quality, integrity, and innovation
