Job Description
Estimator required - Based Glasgow
Permanent Opportunity
£35-45k per annum + 10% car allowance + pension (DOE)
Purpose of role:
To carryout the day to day estimating duties
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure quotations are issued accurately and on time
Raise queries with information received with the relevant parties effectively and efficiently
Make sure all offers comply with Health & Safety Regulations
To ensure all specifications submitted are compatible with the works required
Provide contract documentation to our branches upon receipt of order and to make sure all necessary credit checks have been completed prior to this
Assist relevant contracts staff with “project programmes”
Attend sites as and when required in order to take measurements or training etc.
Prepare Tenders/offers in accordance with all our procedures as set out on Estimating information sheets and by required return date.
To prepare tenders/offers from architects’ drawings and/or site visits and detailed specifications provided by client.
To estimate the type and amount of materials necessary to deliver the contract against the agreed specifications.
To estimate the cost of plant, equipment and overheads
To make regular contact with clients following up on tenders submitted and forge relationships
To liaise with Contracts Manager/Supervisor/Design department, by handover meeting, on receipt of order, to communicate pricing information of the tender.
To maintain good communications with our suppliers to make sure all our material requests are met on time and to provide forecasts so as no unexpected delays occur.
Knowledge / Experience required:
Incumbents need to be articulate, numerate and demonstrate competence in:
Drawing take offs
Specifications and technical knowledge
Product knowledge
Thorough knowledge of Health & Safety Legislation
Contractual awareness i.e. CDM
Estimating Experience
Valid CSCS preferred
Computer Estimating Programme experience
