About the company:
My client is a multi-disciplined Tier One Civil Engineering contractor, with its parent group turning over circa £1 billon. They work with both public and private sector customers in the specialist sectors of infrastructure, highways, rail and engineering. Their clients include HS2, Highways England and well-known residential and commercial developers. As a company, they pride themselves on the technical capabilities of their employees, their high standard of work and the amount of repeat business they receive. The specific Civil Engineering arm is turning over approximately £200M from work including Highways Infrastructure, Airport projects, 278 works, Landscaping and the occasional work on Rail Depots. The projects involve extensive concrete works, deep drainage and heavy earthworks and they range in value from £3M - £250M.
About the opportunity:
Due to successful company expansion, my client is recruiting permanently for an Estimator to join their preconstruction team. Reporting directly to the Managing Estimator, who has been with the business for over 9 years, you will work within a team of 13 professionals on projects typically valued up to £20M, which will involve infrastructure, utilities, and heavy civil engineering.
Duties for this opportunity will include, but not be limited to preparing tender submissions; producing bills of quantities and schedules for estimating programs; attending project visits; carrying out measuring and take offs from drawings; attending pre and post contract meetings with clients and build up tender price from first principles based on plans, programme and scope of works.
About the rewards and benefits:
For this permanent opportunity, my client is targeting professionals looking to earn anywhere from £52,000 - £62,000 per annum however there may be flexibility on this as the specific salary will depend on experience and suitability.
There will be a generous package on offer which includes a car allowance, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, private health care and enrolment on to their pension scheme.
You’ll be put through relevant training and progression plans will be put in place so you have a streamlined development plan for the future.
Lastly, this opportunity is offering flexible working (4 days in the office, 1 day from home).
About the requirements:
You will be required to have a good standard of education, preferably to Foundation Degree level in a construction-related discipline.
Ideally, my client is looking for a professional with at least 3 years of experience working as an Estimator for a UK-based Civil Engineering contractor; however, they are open to considering a professional operating as a Senior Engineer or Sub Agent who is interested in moving into preconstruction. If you are a Sub Agent or Senior Engineer, you will need to hold good stability of employment and proven ability of working on large infrastructure projects in the UK.
As this is an office-based opportunity, you must reside within commutable distance from Cheshunt, Hertfordshire.
