Fabrication Estimator – Steel Fabrication
Location: Fife, Scotland
I am working with a leading company based in Fife who specialise in civil engineering, design, steelworks, and construction as it relates to steel fabrication. Due to continued growth, they are looking to bring an experienced Fabrication Estimator into their team.
The Role
As a Fabrication Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate estimates and costings for a wide range of steel fabrication projects. You will work closely with the design, engineering, and project teams to ensure all estimates are accurate, competitive, and aligned with client specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare detailed estimates and cost proposals for steel fabrication projects.
* Review technical drawings, specifications, and tender documents to ensure accurate pricing.
* Liaise with engineers, designers, and project managers to clarify project requirements.
* Source material, labour, and subcontractor costs, negotiating where necessary.
* Identify potential risks, constraints, and opportunities within projects.
* Prepare bills of quantities and material take-offs.
* Manage and maintain estimating documentation and records.
* Contribute to tender submissions and client presentations.
* Support the business development and project teams with cost-related queries.
The Candidate
* Previous experience as an Estimator in steel fabrication or a closely related sector (civil engineering, steelworks, construction).
* Strong technical knowledge of steel fabrication processes and materials.
* Ability to interpret and work from engineering drawings and specifications.
* Excellent numerical, analytical, and communication skills.
* Competent in Microsoft Office and estimating software.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tenders at once.
