Job Description
Brief Overview
All our client's projects involve the refurbishment and re-roofing of existing, occupied buildings rather than installing roofs on new buildings. They work as a main contractor and not as a sub-contractor and so we have to supply all our own scaffold and other necessary facilities.
Their projects include flat roofs, traditional pitched roof materials (slates and tiles), and industrial sheeting and cladding. This is reflected in the materials and systems they use, which include high-performance built-up roofing felt, cold liquid applied membranes, slating and tiling, and sheeting and cladding systems.
They also often carry out external refurbishment works, usually as part of a roofing project. This might include re-pointing of chimney stacks, external decoration, and the replacement of windows and rainwater gutters.
What You’ll Be Doing
*
Visiting and surveying prospective sites, preparing roof plans, taking accurate measurements, and photographs.
*
Taking account of all technical and logistical requirements.
*
Engaging with clients and accurately recording their requirements.
*
Preparing quantities, costs, reports, and specifications supported with photographic evidence.
*
Submitting tenders and proposals on time.
*
Advising clients with reports and budget pricing to overcome building issues.
*
Pricing variations and additional works on live contracts.
*
Preparing tenders to a high standard, ensuring profitability and competitiveness.
*
Managing workload to prioritise the most valuable enquiries.
*
Keeping clear and accurate records at every stage of pricing.
*
Updating the company database with client interactions.
*
Following up quotations and tenders, recording outcomes, and providing intelligence to management.
*
Ensuring all communications are professional, client-focused, and aligned with company values and branding.
*
Launching projects upon order receipt, briefing the contracts department, and providing ongoing support.
What We’re Looking For
*
Excellent IT skills, particularly in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
*
Strong organisation, time management, numeracy, and written English.
*
Previous experience as a roofing estimator (or in a similar role).
*
Full UK driving licence.
*
Based within a reasonable commute of Surbiton
