Job Description
Estimator / QS | Residential, Commercial, Education | Kent / SE London | Sept 2025
An opportunity for a commercially minded Estimator / QS to play a key role across both pre-construction and live projects, with a contractor known for lean management and direct delivery.
You'll support tendering, estimating, and cost planning at pre-construction stage, while also working closely with the Managing Surveyor and delivery teams once projects are live managing subcontractor accounts, valuations, and reporting.
The Role
•Estimator / QS role covering both pre-construction and delivery stages
•Preparing tenders, cost plans, and enquiries using Excel (no complex estimating software)
•Measuring and costing in-house packages (dry lining, SFS, windows) where the company self-delivers
•Managing subcontractor procurement, payments, and variations
•Cross reporting to the Managing Surveyor and liaising with site teams
•Exposure to PCSA schemes (desirable but not essential)
What they're looking for
•5+ years' experience in a main contractor or established developer environment
•Background in estimating, cost planning, or QS work across residential, commercial, or education schemes
•Strong Excel skills for tender analysis and cost tracking
•Clear communicator, confident with reporting and client / subcontractor liaison
