Job Title: Estimator / Quantity Surveyor (Groundworks & Civils)
Location: Stansted, Essex
Salary: £38,000 – £48,000 per annum (DOE)
The Role
We are seeking an Estimator / Quantity Surveyor with 2–4 years’ experience in groundworks and civil engineering to join a successful and growing contractor based in Stansted, Essex. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual to develop their estimating and surveying career, working on a range of civil engineering and groundworks projects across the region.
Responsibilities
*
Receive enquiries from clients, log details, and review tender documentation and drawings
*
Estimate client bills and prepare detailed tender submissions
*
Produce rate build-ups using estimating software
*
Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate quotations
*
Respond to client queries and provide value engineering solutions
*
Assist with lump sum tender opportunities alongside the surveying team
*
Assess financial, technical, and operational risks on projects
*
Produce take-offs and detailed Bills of Quantities (BoQ) for tenders
*
Prepare measures for material ordering and coordinate with subcontractors
*
Maintain strong communication with clients, suppliers, and site teams
Requirements
*
2–4 years’ experience as an Estimator / QS in groundworks or civil engineering
*
Strong knowledge of tendering, BoQs, and take-offs
*
Proficient in estimating software and MS Office
*
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
*
Attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines
*
Construction-related qualification (HNC/HND/Degree) desirable
