Job Title: Night Workshop Controller (Automotive)
Reporting to: Operations Director
Department: Mechanical (Service Centre)
The Opportunity:
Car Planet, one of the UK's fastest-growing car retailers with over 1000+ vehicles in stock, is seeking an experienced Automotive Workshop Controller. This role is perfect for those with a background in independent garages or car supermarket workshop management, who understand the balance between efficiency and quality.
As a Workshop Controller, you will report directly to the Workshop Manager and work closely under their guidance, helping lead a team of technicians in our service centre, overseeing a variety of tasks including mechanical work, diagnostics, servicing, and tyre maintenance. We value a pragmatic approach, focusing on what's essential for the car and beneficial for our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
* Establish and monitor targets and KPIs for our team of technicians
* Maintain high standards of quality control
* Develop a strong team of technicians and implement training programs for junior members
* Ensure strict adherence to Health & Safety regulations at all times
* Oversee aftersales issues and manage our aftersales specialist
Qualifications:
* Proven experience as a Workshop Supervisor or Manager, preferably in a car supermarket or independent garage setting
* Ability to manage the daily operations of a busy workshop
* Ideally, a formal qualification at NVQ level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent
* A valid vehicle driver's licence
* Excellent communication and IT skills
* Effective team management skills
Compensation:
* Basic salary up to £50k (based on experience) + OTE £70K
Work Schedule:
* Week 1: 5 days (Monday – Friday)
* Week 2: 6 days (Monday – Saturday)
* Working Hours: 2.30pm - 11:30pm
