Job Description
About the Role
Our client is looking for an experienced Extrusion Setter / Operator to join their production team. You will be responsible for ensuring optimum running conditions of extrusion lines, producing quality extruded products, and maintaining high standards of efficiency, safety, and housekeeping.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong technical knowledge of profile extrusion processes and plastics to make a real impact in a busy manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor production processes and ensure optimum running conditions.
Carry out tooling changeovers and start-up/shutdown of extrusion lines.
Troubleshoot and resolve machine-related production or quality issues.
Clean and maintain barrels and screws.
Monitor and record quality checks in line with specifications.
Provide clear and efficient end-of-shift handovers.
Move raw materials and finished products using forklifts/manual handling.
Assist with extrusion trials (Grade 4 & 5 only).
Minimise scrap levels and reduce production downtime.
Support other setters and operators to achieve optimum output.
Maintain excellent housekeeping standards (5S).
Adhere to all operating procedures, setting sheets, and health & safety rules.
Performance Indicators
Reduction in downtime and scrap levels.
Quality output with minimal complaints.
Machine efficiency improvements.
High housekeeping and safety standards.
What We're Looking For
Proven experience in profile extrusion (essential).
Knowledge of the plastics industry (desirable).
Strong understanding of health & safety requirements.
Ability to work to priorities and deadlines.
Technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and leadership abilities.
Proactive, flexible, and self-motivated team player.
